A Branch of Germany’s Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Anhalt) to Open in Kazakhstan

A branch of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Anhalt) will begin operations in Kazakhstan, based at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (AUPET). The agreement was signed in Germany on June 21, 2024, by the President of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Jörg Bagdahn, and the Rector of AUPET, Gani Nygymetov.
The establishment of this German university branch is part of the implementation of the directive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to attract leading foreign universities to the country. It aligns with the Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science for 2023–2029.
“We are confident that our cooperation with one of Germany’s top universities — ranked among the top five in the field of applied sciences — will contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists for Kazakhstan’s energy and engineering sectors,” noted Gani Nygymetov, Rector of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications.
