AIU Students Take Part in One of the Largest Hackathons in History

A team of Anhalt International University students took part in HackAlem AI in Astana, held on September 23, 2026, and bringing together thousands of developers, students, young professionals and IT enthusiasts from Kazakhstan and other countries. The event opened Kazakhstan’s AI Month, and OpenAI was its official partner.
HackAlem AI is among the biggest hackathons ever held. It set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants in an AI hackathon, and the combined value of prizes and technology resources reached $1.1 million. The record certificate was presented at the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 forum.
Our students worked on a solution within a short time, moving from an idea to a working AI product.
Taking part in a record-setting event alongside thousands of participants gave our students real teamwork experience and a chance to connect with the country’s AI community. AIU congratulates the team and is proud of everyone who represented the university!
