A Branch of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences Opens in Almaty

A solemn opening ceremony was held in Almaty at Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev) for the new branch of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Germany).

The event was attended by the Consul General of Germany in Almaty, Matthias Kiesler, the President of Anhalt University, Jörg Bagdahn, the Rector of Energo University, Gani Nygymetov, the Director of the Anhalt University branch in Almaty, Eduard Siemens, and representatives of the German Research Foundation. Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has become the first German university to offer instruction in Kazakhstan based on German academic programs and to issue both German and Kazakhstani diplomas.

The new branch will offer instruction in English by faculty from Germany in the following majors: Systems Engineering, and Biotechnical and Medical Systems and Devices. Intensive German language courses are also planned, enabling students to complete part of their studies and internships in Germany.

“Graduates of the branch will have broad opportunities for professional development both in Kazakhstan and in Germany, as well as in other European countries,” emphasized Jörg Bagdahn.
