Anhalt International University in Almaty Expands Educational Opportunities for Kazakhstani Students

As part of its internationalization strategy, the German University of Applied Sciences Hochschule Anhalt is launching new admission formats in Kazakhstan in addition to its bachelor’s programs. This was announced by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Jörg Bagdahn.

The only branch of the German state University of Applied Sciences Hochschule Anhalt in Central Asia was opened in Kazakhstan in September 2024 as a result of active cooperation between the governments of the two countries. Anhalt International University operates in Almaty on the infrastructure base of Energo University. In 2025, the first cohort of students was admitted to fully English-taught bachelor’s programs in “Electrical Engineering and Information Technology” and “Biomedical Engineering.” Additional state-funded educational grants were allocated by the Government of Kazakhstan for this purpose.

Kazakhstani applicants can now apply through Anhalt International University to degree programs at the main campus in Germany — an additional bachelor’s program in International Business and a master’s program in Logistics Management. A blended learning format is предусмотрен, allowing students to study without a long-term stay in Germany.

The expansion of programs is aimed at strengthening international academic cooperation and training Kazakhstani specialists in accordance with German higher education standards.
